The New EU Supply Chain Act
A Milestone for Corporate Responsibility
The new EU Supply Chain Act, officially known as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), has been adopted. But what exactly does this mean?
This groundbreaking legislation sets new standards for the protection of human rights and the fight against climate change. In our opinion, it's long overdue!
THE KEY POINTS
Strengthening Human Rights:Large companies must be held accountable for human rights violations such as child labor and forced labor.
Climate Protection:Companies are required to implement measures to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Stricter Regulations and Liability:The law is stricter than the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and includes sanctions and civil liability for non-compliance.
Affected Companies:It applies to firms with more than 1,000 employees and a global net turnover of 450 million euros.
Implementation:After publication in the EU Official Journal, member states have approximately two years to transpose the new rules into national law.
